2 Building and Exploiting Intellectual Capital : the Role of Social , Human and Physical Resources

Data from a field study of 57 technology firms were used to test relationships among physical, human, and social capital to intellectual capital; intellectual capital, in turn, was linked to firm innovation. The results indicate that a firm’s rate of innovation is a function of the level of intellectual capital, which in turn, is predicted based on the level of physical, human, and social capital, and the interaction of these variables with intellectual capital.
